We are visual creatures. We get drawn to an image more often than we do text. You only have to see where your eye goes first in a newspaper. On Facebook, research has shown a status with an image gains more interaction than a text-only status. So, next time your link up a blog post or put up a status, consider including an image with it. If you upload the image first, you’ll be able to add your blog post or website link without the blog/website thumbnail appearing.
NB: That’s not to say you should do it for ALL your statuses, by the way.
