With so many marketing fads, often you can feel like you’re spending all your time learning a new strategy only for it to die off and leave you learning yet another one. So what do we do to overcome having to always learn about different marketing fads? In this post, I want to share with you 4 evergreen marketing strategies you can be using in your business.
Let’s start
Your Email Signature
The first one is the email signature that you have on the bottom of every email you send out. You can use something like MixMax or WiseStamp to create this if your email marketing account doesn’t offer it. Basically, what these tool do is automatically insert a signature into the bottom of all of your emails that you send out.
We have to send these emails anyway, whether it’s to the bank manager or childcare or friends. If we have an email signature that automatically is inserted in the bottom of all our emails and has a call to action in it, then we’re able to promote our business without putting in additional effort.
Maybe your call to action is to download your free opt in offer or to schedule a one on one chat with you to see whether you’re a good fit to work together. Maybe it’s getting them to read your latest blog post or watch your latest video.
Having at least one call to action means people who are interested in what you’re doing can go to the next step or they may know someone who needs what you have to offer. So that’s my first tip in helping you in evergreen marketing strategies that can help continue to bring in new clients.
Youtube Videos
The second one is YouTube videos. Each new video you create is building this stronger marketing machine for your business. So the more videos, the bigger the machine gets, the stronger that machine gets.
If you use keywords (or tags, as they’re known in Youtube), a keyword-rich title and complete the description section using words taken from the video, then your video is more likely to be found when people search on Youtube.
And really, that’s what we do, don’t we? We “search” or browse for topics or particular content we’re interested in when we’re on Youtube. It’s similar to Google in that it’s a search engine.
So when somebody finds and then views your video, it sends a signal to Youtube that the video must be great, let’s rank it higher. The more views you can get, the higher it ranks which attracts more people to you and it creates a cycle. As far as evergreen marketing strategies, it’s a great way for you to be able to attract new clients who get to really know you.
Blogging
The third evergreen marketing strategy, similar to Youtube, is blogging. If you’re more of a writer than a talker, then blogging is a great option. We can use keywords within our blog post content to help people searching for those terms to find our piece of content, if it’s well optimised.
If you like both writing and video as strategies, you can even embed that video into the blog post which:
- creates more views for the video s it’s more likely to be found in Youtube
- adds another keyword signal for Google and other search engines about what the blog post is about
- ensures people stay on your blog post longer, which is another ranking trigger for Google
- gives readers different ways to consume your content.
One of the things I do like about blogging is we can share it on things like social media sites to get more mileage out of it. Social media content has such a short shelf life for our content that using Youtube and blog means you get more value out of the content you are creating. As we know, it takes a lot of time to create our content, so make that effort worth it.
Attracting Reviews
There are so many places we can ask people to share a review now. I would encourage you to get a Google My Business page if you haven’t already and attract reviews on that page. When people are researching whether or not to work with you or even if they’re researching people in your space, they find your Google My Business page and then read the reviews. It’s wonderful social proof and shares the transformation you can provide.
If you don’t want to use Google My Business, you can use reviews on your website. There are lots of other platforms that are specifically review related. For example the real estate industry has RateMyAgent. Or you can choose something more general, like Facebook.
You can even leave a review about my blog posts.
So which of the 4 marketing strategies that are evergreen will you use? Even one will help create a consistent flow of new clients to your business for the longer term.
Beyond Your Evergreen Marketing Strategies?
Where are you leading people once you’ve attracted them through one of these strategies? You always want to be taking people to the next step by adding a call to action. One example would be to get them on your email list through an evergreen funnel. This is how you would then nurture them:
