This month Mum PR has been running the which woman from business, blogging or finance inspires you?” competition. The competition was judged today and the winner announced here. However, there was so much inspiration from the many entries that came through, that I thought it might be nice to share some of them.
So, focusing on the entries based around bloggers, here are some of those answers:
Caz from ytravel blog has inspired me, and continues to inspire me! Every day she posts on her two blogs, she and her hubby travel and then also write guest blog posts. They have newsletters to write, paid posts to write, inspiring stories to share, kindness to spread, a smile and a journey. AS well they are raising two daughters together, work together and still have time to be in the moment. Caz business journey with her blogging is one in a million, and I learn something new every day from her!
Trish from My Little Drummer Boys has done more than inspire me recently. She was diagnosed with breast cancer just weeks ago and has opened her world up for all to see. Her attitude of moving forward and dealing with the family and medical issues as they arise is impressive. I’m sure there are many tears and soul searching moments and we can feel them even if they are not voiced. Her life goes on. For now it’s just a different life. It puts any niggling concerns I may have into perspective. It tells me that a positive outlook can move mountains.
Melissa who helps run Kleenex Mums Club website. Who would think that a box of tissues or dunny roll would have a club that I would join! But yes I have. This is a website for mums to get advice, enter competitions and generally stroll the topics of parental interest. This website makes me feel connected as an ‘at home mum’. Melissa has a warm profile and is somebody like me. A mummy! I won one of the blog competitions and these opportunities take me to new positive heights. Helping me continue to enjoy my role and appreciate the powers and rewards of networking.
I’ve recently discovered a friend from school – Leah Deighton has a blog Sang The Bird, and I’ve been regularly checking in. She inspires me with her honesty, and her desire to live simply. I love her images and am inspired to take more photos. She has taught me to remember to take time for me and to notice the beauty around us.
Two things I love passionately is food and our beautiful and vibrant city of Sydney. Food blogger Helen Yerr of Grab Your Fork is a woman who has brought these two passions together. Her love of food and her well loved blog has brought our finest foods and eateries onto the world stage and people from all over the world get to taste the flavours of our wonderfully multicultrual city. Food is the best introduction to any city and Helen Yee has given her readers an amazing look at what Sydney has to offer. I’ve lived here all my life and I’m still captivated by the sheer variety of new places to try and events to explore. Helen’s blog is informative and honest, giving readers a fascinating retelling and not merely the standard restaurant review. She brings these places to life and her blog has certainly created a lot of business of many of Sydney’s eateries over the years. I admire her passion and dedication to keeping us enthralled and informed on the food s. cene here in Sydney. Because of Helen and all those who have followed their passion, I’ve striven to use my own passions within my business and be happy at what I do.
Sometimes Fi from My Mummy Daze is tender, sometimes she is insanely funny (we share the EXACT same sense of humour), and always she knows what a flog it is raising kids and juggling work. She tells it like it is, which is the only way to tell it really. Ironically when I’ve had a crappy day or at least a crappy moment, her latest email newsletter will hit my in-box and she’ll explain what she did in that situation. So reassuring.
Kylie Ofiu has inspired me, I started following her sell 1000 things, then her writing ebooks.. and now I have started my own selling challenge, I’ve started writing the ebook that I have always wanted to do and now setting up my own business. She has given me advice and also been there when I needed just that little push to get me to the next stage.
Nikki Parkinson ~ Styling You website has encouraged me to find confidence within to try all things new. Whether its seeking new technology that assists in making my life easier away from home. Nikki blogs about various subjects and will give us hints on how to go about them. Trialling these steps has taught me to be more confidant and to believe that you can make a huge impact with small changes in your daily lifestyle. Nikki’s an Inspiration to her huge fan base. Life is more colourful now when I step out the door.
I’ve been blown away by the courage, strength and love that Tiff from the blog My three ring circus shows every day. She battles through everything that life throws at her while bringing up seven beautiful children, one of whom is very sick. She inspires me to be more, to do more, to think outside the square and to never judge what we think we see. Because not everyone, not everything is as it seems and it is something that we all need to be reminded of.
I adore Rhonda Hetzel from Down To Earth, who has made a massive impact on my way of thinking through her blog on sustainable, simple living. Unlike most sustainable living blogs, which have an element of ‘fad’ to them, hers is honest, plain advice. She is like a grandmother to those who grew up without one, passing on the information that usually gets passed from word of mouth. She has inspired me to change my thinking, reduce my consumption and appreciate simplicity.
There were also two nominations for me, but I’m far too embarrassed to include them. But thank you to those two people – I feel very chuffed to even be recognised.
What blogger inspires you and why?
Caz Makepeace says
Wow this is so awesome to read! Thank you so much for this. I was so suprised to see me here and so so pleased to read what was written. I am so grateful and wish I could thank the person who wrote it in person. There are plenty of times where I wonder if it is worth it and think of quitting but then I hear something like that and it reminds me that it is worth it and I am on the right path. Thank you for this. And all the other women here are so inspiring as are you Kellie!
