The big move – from Mum PR to Kellie O’Brien Media

Newcomingsoon

If you haven’t been playing along on Facebook, this Tasmanian business is in the process of rebranding. We’re moving from Mum PR to Kellie O’Brien Media. If you look in your URL bar, you’ll notice it already says https://kellieobrien.com.au/.

So far….

The URLs from the old site have 301 redirects. This means if someone clicks on a Mum PR post via Google, they’ll end up on this site. So that’s sorted. And in case you’re wondering, yes, I’ll still be writing social media, blogging and PR content. That’s won’t change.

I’ve done my avatar for the new business – which, to be honest, isn’t too far removed from the Mum PR avatar. There’s just a few minor tweaks.

I’ve changed the URL for my Facebook page to www.facebook.com/KellieOBrienAU – which matches my Twitter handle www.twitter.com/KellieOBrienAU. Renaming the page is still to happen.

However, one thing is holding me up. It’s branding the business visually. This area is definitely not my forte. I’m really struggling with trying to convey what I want. Or even knowing what I want.

I’m a bit like a puppy in a butcher’s shop. I get hooked on a bone, am all excited and then catch sight of a big juicy chop and ditch the bone for the chop.

I’m sure if I had to rebrand someone else’s business, it wouldn’t be a problem.

It means over the next week (I hope it’s not any longer than that), the branding on this page will be a little all over the (butcher’s) shop. At the moment it’s blue, which is not the most inviting. But I’m going with it while I come up with the perfect image to represent the new business.

We will get there. I promise.

And a full explanation of why we’ve rebranded is coming too. So stay tuned for that.

How did you go about branding your business or blog? Who did you use? What steps did you take?

Hi there Kelly, good luck with these changes. The re-branding will last a lifetime for you so great to get it done and right. I often think of changing my blog URL but it seems too big a job!!

Good luck with it all, following with interest.

Thanks Seana. It’s been a big two weeks, that’s for sure. Hoping to do some sort of official launch tomorrow or Monday. It feels good to get it done though!! 🙂
I’d love to rebrand Three Li’l Princesses too, but I think I might leave that until early next year. One rebrand at a time! LOL!

Looks great Kel. It’s always the way when we need to do it ourselves. I’m going through some of the same things at the moment! Will be glad once it’s done!

Oh, it’s such a relief, Vanessa. I’m glad to have those two weeks behind me!! 🙂
I still have a few things to do – change my Facebook page and set up a new email account – but otherwise, I feel the hard part is done!
I can’t wait to see what you’re doing too. x
