A few years ago, doing my taxes was like trying to put toothpaste back into the tube. It was painful and there wasn’t much reward at the end.
It’s disheartening to not only put in effort to do those taxes, but also in building your business throughout the year, to end up right back where you were the year before.
Especially if that place doesn’t light you up.
However, it only takes a few shifts to turn all this around. Those shifts revolve around my 3-tiered online marketing plan to double your profits.
During both of the past two financial years, I’ve doubled my business AND my profits. I stress the “profits” piece, because too many people sell the “doubled my business” story without revealing the true story – which is often that there was zero profit. But don’t get me started on that one…
So what have been the shifts in the past 2+ years?
Today, I want to share a few insights for you and why I’m so passionate about the three S’s.

STORYTELLING
There are two elements to stories. One is the mind stories you tell yourself and having support to ensure the negative stories don’t hold you back.
The other is using stories in your marketing. And for me, this has increased the past two years.
And it’s not just that I told MORE intentional business stories (like in these blog posts), but I shared them more widely – from guest podcasts, being guest presenter for multiple entrepreneurs’ programs, ran in-person workshops, hosted webinars, weekly eNewsletters and increased my blogging.
Do you share soulful, purposeful stories or are you simply using marketing copywriting templates that lack the emotion needed to compel people to take action?
STRATEGY
I’ve always believed in my Client Pathway strategy and building evergreen website traffic. However, two things shifted this past financial year.
- One was looking at the analytics to see where the strategy could be refined further, making every single element even more purposeful. Nothing is done simply “because”.
- And two was that I invested more time into building new “evergreen traffic” sources.
When it comes to client attraction, my two goals are to attract short term clients to ensure cash flow now and to build a legacy business that will repay me and my family long into the future.

SYSTEMS
I’m going to get a little vulnerable and admit I’ve been prone to doubting myself. Can you relate? You know what you need to do, but you hold yourself back. This was a big topic in The Online Marketing Mastermind call this week.
I read something recently from a big organisation that admitted sometimes their product launches failed. In fact, sometimes a product will flop multiple times. But they don’t give up on it until they’ve repackaged it every way possible.
THAT’S the key.
What that means is that NOTHING is ever a failure, it’s just an opportunity to improve it.
It’s this attitude (and some amazing accountability from my own mastermind to keep me focussed and following through) that means I now have a:
- Facebook ad running at a few dollars per lead,
- that converts into an opt-in at 62%
- and nurtures the people I most want to work with to fill in my Discovery Call form consistently and predictably.
By the way, my consistent, predictable system is still a work in progress as my analytics reveals new ways to improve it. And yours should be too.
